Over the past few years Google started to look at one specific metric.
It's not back-links. it's not tricky embedded html. It's not content either...
It's how users interact with a website. It is all about time on site and bounce rate (search descriptions accurately representing the site content).
If users bounce off your website or visitors do not stay too long, Google interprets this data by thinking people don't find your site useful. And when you don't find a site useful, Google doesn't want to rank it as high.
So if you truly want to rank high in 2018 be relevant in your description, make sure to load your site with limited phone bandwidth and once on your home page or landing page be engaging!
